ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER THE NEC CONFERENCE HELD ON 25 September 2005 HELD AT 12 p.m. AT THE SEAT OF NEC.

On 25 September at 12 a.m., at the seat of the National Electoral Commission, the first press conference on the Election Day for the Parliament and the Senate of the Republic of Poland was held.

The Chairman of NEC, based on the data received from 24 779 local electoral commissions out of the total 24 999 local commissions established countrywide, informed the journalists that as at 10.30 a.m. on 25 September 2005:

  1. The number of eligible voters in the local polling stations from which the data was received was 29 780 999
  2. 2 013 185 ballot card were issued to the eligible voters which constitutes 6.76% of the total number of eligible voters.

The Chairman of NEC informed the journalists that “the elections continue in an extraordinarily dignified, quiet and serious manner although, there were some occasional incidents of disturbing the pre-election silence”.

The District Electoral Commission in Częstochowa advised the National Electoral Commission that in constituency no. 27 in Częstochowa, where the ballot cards to vote for the candidates for the Senate include the full names of the candidates without the electoral committee putting forward a given candidate being specified, the vote will not be suspended. The District Electoral Commission recommended informing each elector that the cards correspond to the official model content and the information on the electoral committee is available on the announcement displayed at the polling station. Judge Ferdynand Rymarz declared that NEC given the circumstances this position is the most rational one.

The subsequent conference during which the information on the electoral attendance and the course of the voting will be provided is to be held at the seat of NEC at 6 p.m.
